I've shattered two cheap globes with Epiphone headstocks. Luckily that glass is paper thin, but picking the shards out of my pedal board is a PITA. Oh, and yes, installing and removing them aren't a dream either...especially since I insist on doing almost everything by myself. DERP.
This is why we put furniture directly underneath the fan and / or do close mount fans. Even with the low profile stuff we run the risk of cranial damage.
