2A1D6C7E-6E84-496D-B7D7-1BC06B04718F.jpeg Made this for a friend who is a big Allman Brothers fan. He showed it off on an Allman Bros. Facebook page, and a bunch of people expressed interest. So I got the photographer’s permission and the blessing of Duane’s estate to use the image. This one was his tobacco burst, and I did others with this ‘burst and a gold top. Oh, and nobody bought one.

THat's amazing. Duane Allman should be on the back of the 25 cent piece.

How many did you actually make?

I'm not a rabid Duane Allman fan, but I dig the work you did.

    4. One for my friend, one for the photographer, one for Galadrielle (Duane’s daughter and executrix of the estate), and I still have one. I also did a design with Les and Mary with an LP and an SG, and Johnny Winter with a Firebird.

That's not too bad considering the number of hours that had to take. Could've been much worse.

Yeah, well, I’m still proud of the etch and the coloring I got. The gold tops looked really good. The natural brown Firebird on the Johnny Winter prototype looked really good, but if I do pursue it, I’ll need a photo of Johnny that when etched doesn’t look so much like Jesus.

    Fabulous work Otto...

I showed Mrs Eggs your other pieces, & we were wondering what it was you did back in your ‘working life’? Did your job use your amazing skills?

I was a communications/journalist/ad man for most of my career. I learned graphic design on computer by accident while working at Kennedy Space Center, and am now applying all that I found easy to do on on a screen (virtual art) not that difficult to translate into real art. Except on a canvas when you screw up, there isn’t a Control Z to go back and fix it.

Gotta renew my membership, now that they've apparently finished revamping it again.

Best years of my life, watching the rockets go up and knowing I helped.

I was fortunate to have gone on the "Then and Now" tour and got to see the Mercury and early Apollo pads and bunkers. The Saturn V building is cool of course, but the ACTUAL bunkers and stuff.

Figured I'd throw a couple shots in that aren't rocket nozzles....
I can't find my pictures of the bunkers and such...

We had a document storage library in the blockhouse at Pad 6 iirc, one of them from the Mercury/Gemini days, and all the consoles and stuff were still in place. I can still smell it, all the tubes in the computers and all that old school electronic funk. The computers were huge, and this iPad I’m typing on has easily 50 times the computer power.

It does have a particular odor doesn't it? I'd like my house to smell like that....

If you mean the original pictures, they are cuff bracelets.

Years ago my wife "didn't know her then" worked for JPL which is Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena California. They designed and built Nasa Components. I hooked up with a very smart woman, but she hooked up with me. Is she really that smart? :hmm:
