I am a Hungarian programmer and I have a Tribute Plus with F326444 serial. So I try to decode the newest F serial numbers. One of the possible solution the following.

    F3DDNNN
    · F3 = Factory code (in this case Qingdao (China)).
    · DD = Day count from 01.01.2010 divided by 73. (73 is a good number because 5*73 = 365 one year).
Consequently the years and the date code intervalls:
    2010: 00-05
    2011: 05-10
    2012: 10-15
    2013: 15-20
    2014: 20-25
    2015: 25-30
    2016: 30-35
    2017: 35-40
    2018: 40-45
    · NNN = Production number

    Example: F326444 = Qingdao (China) / 01.01.2010 + 26*73 = 14.03.2015 => it was produced between 14.03.2015.and 26.05.2015 / unit 444

    Example: F322728= Qingdao (China) / 01.01.2010 + 22*73 = 26.05.2014 => it was produced between 26.05.2014.and 07.08.2014 / unit 728

It seems rational...anyone else want to chime in on this?

that doesn't work, cause they made only a few in the first years, then more pieces each year in the following years, and now less each year

F-Serial used on LP Std'59/'60 models and Tribute/Plus models
This newest serial number system used by Epiphone is not yet completely deciphered.

'F' doesn't refer to 'Fine, Korea' - nor to 'Fuji-gen, Japan' - New "F" models are made in China.

This serial number system doesn't exactly tell the year - and doesn't tell the month at all.
    • Beginning with F300000 in late 2009 used on LP Std'59/Std'60/Tribute models
    • Continued around F310650~F311050 in spring 2012 on Tribute-Plus models
    • Continued around F305000 in 2011
    • Continued around F310000 in 2012
    • Continued around F317000 in 2013
    • Continued around F324000 in 2014
    • Continued around F330000 in 2015
    • Continued around F340000 in 2018

Thanks... I used to buy it. The seller said "it made in japan 2003" based on the old serial number system. Likely 2014 is the truth based on your link....

This link with serials was useful, because there are a lot of data. The real question is when was this guitarts made. It is certainly before the purchase date. So I tryed the algoritm with different number 73 instead of 70 (day count from 01.01.2010 divided by 70).

    The new intervalls the following:
    2010: 00 - 05
    2011: 05 - 10
    2012: 10 - 16
    2013: 16 - 21
    2014: 21 - 26
    2015: 26 - 31
    2016: 31 - 37
    2017: 37 - 42
    2018: 42 - 47

I think it works with the linket serials , but I not checked for all...

    F326444: 26.12.2014-06.03.2015

Frankly, I think they should go back to a system that makes sense like the EE codes.

Ok, if the first release was in 01.08.2008 and the period is 60 day the new intervalls are the following:

    2009: 00 - 02
    2010: 02 - 08
    2011: 08 - 14
    2012: 14 - 20
    2013: 20 - 26
    2014: 26 - 32
    2015: 32 - 39
    2016: 39 - 45
    2017: 45 - 51
    2018: 51 - 57

I checked it for the critical 38 serials (from every codes the earliest bought) and it works.

There is no alogarithm, cause nobody knows how long a guitar needs to travel round the earth, and how long it stays in the warehouse of Gibson/Epi before shipped to the retailer, and finally how long it stays in the shop, till it gets bought.

Finally who really cares if an Epi is made Nov 2013 or Feb 2014 ?

This serial number system doesn't exactly tell the year - and doesn't tell the month at all.

    • Continued around F305000 in 2011~5000 pieces in 13-14 months
    • Continued around F310000 in 2012~5000 pieces a year
    • Continued around F317000 in 2013~ 7000 pieces a year
    • Continued around F324000 in 2014~ 7000 pieces a year
    • Continued around F330000 in 2015~ 6000 pieces a year
    • Continued around F340000 in 2018~ 3333 pieces a year

I, for one, think it's pretty cool to know when something was made. I know when my '71 Schwinn Varsity was built, cars have VIN numbers that can be decoded... It's just another level of geekery. In the end, it's trivial information (especially to a modder) but it's still something to learn and know.
