I recently bought this very interesting Chinese-made Casino, which has had some interesting mods. It sounds amazing. Who'd have thought... I have guitars worth ten times what I paid for this which don't sound as good.

The pickups have been replaced by Mojo pickups and the covers swapped to black plastic. These pickups have been shimmed up - they sound amazing but the pickups are actually bigger than the pickups, so the pickguard wont fit anymore - no big deal, I'll get some other shims one day.
The 'bigsby' is a German Duesenberg version. I contacted them and they said that it's an early version of theirs, although nobody can find a photograph of the exact same one; mine has no tension bar, whereas they normally do. Despite the lack of tension bar, and shallow break angle, the 'bigsby' works well - stays in tune and the strings stay in the saddles. There was clearly another bigsby on there previously, most probably a B6.
Who made these mods? Was it one person or several? We will probably never know...

    THe guitar has "character."

You don't need a pickguard on an archtop. I'd go further and say that archtop pickguards are a design crime.
