Tom Petty's lead guitar on a cheap Epi Jr !
Looks like he's getting all he needs from the volume knob. Today's TV appearance is tomorrow's signature Epiphone
Dang...where did he dig up that relic??
Oh Yeah is saw that on U tube video playing You Wreck Me . He was was getting some good sounds out of that thing.
I also noticed that it has the original stamped tuners. That's gutsy!
Here it is:
Where did you see that? I don't recall seeing the back of it at all.
Mike Campbell played that at the O'Connell Center concert in Gainesville, FL in '06 - a lot better guitar than the Guyatone he had in G'ville when he met Tom Petty.
Epi made the college themes in the 2000s. The link says they started at $499. I looked for the University of Florida version, a couple of years ago, but couldn't find one. They're probably all in frat house rec rooms, soaked with beer.
I can tell by the shape of the pegs.
Huh, they look pretty generic to me. Sure there wasn't just a button swap? I can't imagine a tech for a big name band sending out a guitar with dodgy tuners just because it has the Gators logo.
Could be, I guess. The post hole size looks original too.
Man, if you're measuring post hole sizes....
They used sealed tuners on those. They work fine. I saw one on LetGo in Jacksonville the other day, guy was asking $250.
That would make sense. The Epiphone die cast tuners are actually decent.
Yep. I got my ruler out and everything. I spent 6 hours doing complex mathematic formulas converting pixels to inches and then to millimeters and back to pixels. I even had to compensate for the stretch of the angle. Very very complicated.
And they tell me I have OCD
I'm feeling froggy today. Earlier, I solved world hunger and staved off a potential epidemic of cannibalism by suggesting the breeding of cats for food...on a Facebook cat group. The mathematics were less complicated, but I don't think my idea was very well received. Any other questions?
Meh, I've watched Adam Savage do the same thing on Mythbusters and when he's just making a replica prop for himself.
