    hi all
    just picked up a epi Les Paul Black Beauty .
    anyone out know the best thing to clean the gold hardware as its looking a bit crap

    Brasso or Naptha. If Naptha, take precautions. While its safe for finishes, it's not so good in the eyes, prolonged contact with the skin or breathing much of it. So, gloves, eye protection and the outdoors. And for the love of God, don't smoke around it. Other than that, great stuff.....

    Be very careful with that gold! It will rub right off very easily.

    yah, be really careful. that gold will rub off if you blow on it too much.

    Nope. Way too easy.


    This is going to sound odd, but this is a real thing that works: Ketchup. I've got a few antique dealers I've been friends with for nearly 20 years and they'll use ketchup and a soft rag (old white cotton t-shirt, microfiber, whatever just soft) to shine up certain items when the patina doesn't matter.

    had a go at cleaning the pickups.did not go to well so replaced the covers SAM_0684.JPG

    what did you use to clean it with? to abrasive or rubbed to hard?

    covers just to far gone
    and a easy job to replace
