$1299 for signed version with case (limited to 100)
$899 for non-signed version
Imagine how cool it would look with a darker fretboard.....
Right? This "Pau Ferro" thing might work on Fenders, but I think it looks terrible on Epis.
They did Ebony fretboards on much cheaper epis in the past...
i do like that one. does this one have a veneer on it ? i'm assuming no, based on the
"Gorgeous AAA flame maple caps a resonant mahogany body"
"Eye-catching AAA maple top with translucent finish"
i don't see where it says if a case comes with it, either.. thinking
about this one
Is Epi allowed to use Richlite?
That wood be a step in the right direction
IIRC they are using some kind of composite on a few guitars,
not sure if it is Richlite or something other
I guess it is a veneer - the real maple cap is called 'hard maple cap' or 'carved maple cap'
and firebirds usually don't have any caps...
right, because firebirds are usually neck through construction.. that's what
was throwing me off. still looks sweet though.
I see what you did there.
That's crying out for an ebony board.
Edit: I would ebonise it with Fiebings Leather Die, I've always been reluctant to use it, I have some and it is black, very black. I think it would be good on this though.
I would love to see how that comes out if you ever do decide to try it.
Slash can eat a bag of d!cks at this point with the signature models, but I seriously want this one.
If they gave us Ebony we'd have to forget about the Duncan pickups no doubt, so, I'll take one as is and hunt down something black to violate the fretboard with personally. You can't have everything. Fender's Pau Ferro on the MIMs has produced some pretty nice and reasonably dark examples for what I've come across, so, maybe it'll even be fine as is. In my experience the stuff looks lighter in photos than in person, though I've definitely seen a couple that were pretty pale.
Despite their irritating quantities the Slash LPs usually look like fun, well-built guitars. This looks like the same, but it isn't another cookie cutter in a different color. I have no complaints.
Edit: If I am going to complain though, a black pickguard would be nice and admittedly an ebony board would be amazing for this.
Dang, Slash is getting as bad as JoBo...
I wanna ‘bird... but I want mini-bucks... but I don’t want goldmist...
Oi Yoi Yoi : /
A white or cherry finish would complement the fretboard nicely. I don't understand the obsession over pure black ebony, but it would certainly fit this guitar very well.
I can't tell if it is the fretboard, the washed out flames or both, but this guitar looks “cheap” to me. The Harley Benton way if you will... But I hope it plays well so at least those who will get it will have fun with it.
I'm still waiting for Epi to make a non-reverse bird.
With dog eared P90s???
3 of them.
