    Presenting the Squier M-80! Fresh from box, haven't cleaned yet!

    It is a strat body, with LP like controls. In fact, it has a 24.75" scale too! I was intending to change pickups but they seem to sound really nice!

    I am not a fan of the knobs though...

    Played it a bit. Sound wise, it is good to my ears! I was planning to put in my extra rail humbucker on the bridge and an Alnico 5 P94 on the neck, but it sounds good as is. I am not happy with the narrow neck and the switch is kinda flimsy. So, I might swap the switch and probably a Tusq nut.

    Any advice on a good switch?

    I may not keep this guitar though because of the narrow neck, but let's see. Maybe I need some bonding time.

    I'll try to come up with a demo as soon as I am done rearranging my play room.

    Good call.

    Switchcraft. Accept no substitute.

    Knobs are subjective. I love the Wave Embossed MIJ knobs on The Lady, but @Dave J hates 'em. Doesn't matter to me, it ain't his guitar!

    If you're already thinking of flipping it, you might put a hold on the mods until you know.

    I like the look of that one. I bet that's a rockin machine.
    HNUGD, give it some time, you might wind up liking the narrow neck.
    If not, you shouldn't have much trouble flipping it.

    I was thinking about a compensated nut, but they didn't have it in black. Seller said he only makes them in bone white and brass.

    Some guitars need certain colored nuts. I don't think Killer Frost would work with a black nut, but brass or white TUSQ suit her fine. The white TUSQ is my preference on her, while black serves The Lady quite well.

    I opened up the electronics. They definitely need an upgrade!

    Question...

    On an LP, are the bridge control knobs closer to the pickups with the neck controls on the farther side?

    As you look at the guitar relative to the strings, on an LP or SG, the upper controls are for the neck and the lower are for the bridge.

    Rhythm = Neck
    Treble = Bridge

    Volumes are one on top of the other, as tone. Top knobs neck, bottom bridge. I think bridge volume/tone should be on top.

    Nobody's stopping you from wiring yours that way.
