    Hi all,

I have a new-to-me Riviera P93 and have some questions, re: getting a pickguard for it.

First question: there are a lot of vendors (in the US and elsewhere) who offer a pre-cut guard on eBay etc (save for WD, which strangely doesn't offer this). Are there any vendors I should stay away from? I can see from some eBay photos that some of the workmanship is iffy, but if there is a site/seller I should avoid, I'd appreciate any info (private message ok too).

Second question: rarely is there any hardware offered, which leads me to ask whether the screws and mounting bracket comply by some sort of standard for Epiphone/LPs and not model-by-model? For example, would a bracket for a 335 (which the Riviera's body is similar to) work?

Last question: can anyone reasonably good with a screwdriver attach a pickguard or is this something that you would suggest a professional do?

    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to Epi-Talk.

    1. If the on-line pic looks shoddy, avoid the vendor. I think Greasy Groove has a good reputation, but they're not cheap. You might have to look around to find a Riviera p93 guard though.

    2. In my experience, only the replacement pickguard is offered, hardware is extra.

    3. If you can turn a screwdriver, you have all the skills to install a pickguard.

Now let's have a look at that Riviera. We (heart) guitar porn.

Thanks, Davis! I think I got it sorted now. The hardware, not so much, but I'm hoping to get confirmation that the bracket for the 335 model will suffice for the Riviera.

    Here's a pic...

As I suspected, that guitar is too gorgeous to cover up with a piece of plastic. :)
