I think I heard some time back that Epiphone was selling hollow body Les Pauls with piezo pups.

If that's true, is this one?

    And who's playing it?

The dude on the cover is Jared James Nichols. The guitar he is playing is a dogear single p90 not a piezo. Not sure which guitar that would be.

That would be the LP Ultra II and the LP Ultra III that is still available. It's not a hollow body, but a heavily chambered one. I have the first iteration of that series, the Ultra 1, that came without the (piezo) Nanomag.

Epiphone now makes a semi hollow with the Nanomag, the Ultra 339.

just a side note, the guitar he's playing is his signature Epiphone LP Custom with a single SD P90, based off of his Gibson LP Custom! Really rocking guitar. I wanna buy one.

The Ultra II & III don't have Piezo pickups, tey have magnetic pickups, nanomag the name tells it
A Piezo needs to be located in the bridge, cause it gets the signal from preasure. AFAIK

Ah ! Like we say here in French, I'll go to bed less dumb tonight. I never really looked into it. Thanks for the enlightment.

I'm still a bit doubfull though about how a Piezo works with [IMG] preasure : Definition. the quotient of bad work over volume; an inexplicable and continuous force that simultaneously exists and does not exist.

haha! I definitely wanted the 1955 Custom Outfit they did (but who doesn't want a black LP Custom) & this is kind of just the next level of GAS for that style of LP (Happy belated birthday to Les btw!), sorry to take the thread off topic but his playing is some of my favourite & what i can tell he actually uses his Epiphone Signature a ton for clinics & gigs, pretty awesome dude all around.

LR Baggs piezo pickup in the bridge.
Rare and expensive, I saw one on reverb listed for $1800 iirc.
