Hello everybody, I'm new here. I've played a couple of Epiphones recently, which I really liked so I thought it was about time I got one. I was most impressed with the Epiphone SG I played so that's what I decided to go for. Unfortunately I think I may have picked up a dodgy one.

I've looked at the serial number conversation on here but my serial number doesn't seem to fit anything. It either starts with 19 (which doesn't appear between 18 and 20 on the SN examples for some reason) or it starts I9, which could be Indonesia?.....but also doesn't seem to check out.

It was also suspiciously cheap and the serial number was too small to read on the ad so I didn't get the chance to check it until I got it. The lad I bought it from swears he's had it from new and bought it in the 90s.

Can anyone help? All comments appreciated even the ones that may call my intelligence into doubt :-) I've added some photos of the guitar. Whatever it is it needs a good clean! 56947163_10157318647178586_2427534559584190464_n.jpg 56965587_10157318647053586_6877682919524007936_n.jpg 57019428_10157318647218586_6365572240582377472_n.jpg 57099075_10157318647133586_8650775758685339648_n.jpg

    Thanks @Davis Sharp and @Raiyn - that's a relief!
So it looks like the bloke I bought it from was telling the truth when he said he bought it in the 90s. I should be more trusting of people.

    Welcome here @ €piTalk

the guitar looks absolutely legit for an 'older MiK'

they might have not done the month in the serial#
that makes it a Saein made '96 Epi

Which would also mark the first appearance of the trapazoidal inlays and reflector knobs on the G400, would it not?
