Was on Reverb over the weekend and something told me to search used Epiphone Les Pauls. One of the first listings to pop up was this 1989 Standard. It was at a Sam Ash in PA, and after an offer/ counter offer, I purchased it. I called the store and luckily got the guy who actually took it in, set it up etc. Seemed to be very knowledgeable for a "big box " guitar store employee. Says it was an easy set up, and sounded great etc.

So I'm excited to get my hands on it hopefully today (fingers crossed for fedex) . Cones in the original hsc although I don't have pics of that.

Here are some pics from the add-

I've had success with two different transactions with a Sam Ash Store in Florida.

Based on those I can honestly say they are so far above the average GC store there's virtually no comparison. That's a nice looking LP. Congrats.

Completely agree judging by this transaction, ive had decent luck with the gc in my area but usually have to go through 3 or 4 people first to do so.

Pretty rare to find one of those out in the wild nowadays. Nice!

GC does have a few good stores. Our Englewood Super Store has typically had a good manager and knowledgeable reps but it's more of an exception to the rule.

The Sam Ash store was in Florida no less and they had a G&L bass I wanted but not the case since I already had one I had gotten previously. They said no problem and reduced the price by $70, their cost for that particular case. They shipped it that same day.

The second purchase was one of the Michael Kelly guitars for which they are a sole dealer. It's become their "house brand". I bought a store demo since it was the only one they had in stock and saved $80. The guitar itself was flawless but one of the coils in the neck pickup was shot.

Emailed the store manager. He said no problem. I'll get you a brand new one from the warehouse and have that one picked up. He shipped the new one before mine was even on it's way back to them. That's the kind of trusting relationship I can appreciate and gains them my loyalty.

I've looked at a few of the Kelly telecasters, and would have probably bought one but already have 4 Fenders. If I didn't have a tele that Kelly 53 would be the one. So much for the $

I'm very much in the same boat already having several Fender Teles and a G&L ASAT Special. The guitar I bought was the Patriot Decree with twin humbuckers.

They've actually been offering this model for quite some time and I would put the brand on par with the Epiphones I own. Nice sounding pickups.

They must be spot on with their neck angles to get away with going string thru with a T.O.M. :naughty:

The real problem now is which one to play.

Holy crap that looks much better in the daylight! Great find. Maybe you should tell Sam to start using lights in their photo booth, their pics did no justice here.

I like how that black nut blends in with the headstock. The pick guard and pickup covers look nice being bright white as well, subtle detail there.
