Remember Stephen Stills used to say, “Keep on Keeping on!” Stay safe!
As of midnight tonight people living in rural Victoria such as us have a greatly relaxed version of the Stage 3 restriction we have been under for months. Melbourne and surrounds remain on lockdown on Stage 4 inc. curfews.
I couldn’t be bothered explaining as there’s too much, so here’s a link if anyone is interested enough in whats happening here. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-09...egional-victoria-moves-to-step-three/12664458
However it appears we can head down to Mallacoota our holiday spot and socialise with our friends there at last. Working on the details today and seeing what contractors here are intending over the next few days and of course my shed construction. Thats probably the only thing that would keep me home at the moment!
just six months ago.....^^
and tonight the US will probably hit the 200k mark
Most current count is a shade under 196,000, so probably more like tomorrow afternoon, but yay, we’re #1!
Your numbers seem to be ahead of the source I routinely check. That just may mean a delay in updating on my end, but either way, we’re at 200,000 soon. So, still, yay!
LOL I hope the band of Merry men will chip in a few quid to help pay the fine.
Never works like that and you know it
Figures here in Victoria are still steadily dropping and I think yesterday saw only 35 new infections and none here in the bush for a few days now.
People in rural areas like us are off the lockdown leash though with common sense restrictions and it’s a huge relief! We can travel anywhere in the state and stay now. After months we are off to our holiday spot this morning for almost a week. There will be a few of our mates there, about 8 all told and we are looking forward to some fun times.
I actually broke down and bought mask warning stickers for the house doors. We have the odd maintenance personnel and pest management folks coming onto the property and occasionally into the house and people STILL need to be reminded.
Things could have been different. https://www.esquire.com/news-politi...vice-send-masks-households-april-white-house/
So strict lockdown conditions seem to be working with just 14 new cases today, and they continue to lower!
I suspect something is happening to the reported numbers of US deaths to try and put some pre-election lipstick on this pig. I routinely check the status as released by Johns Hopkins University and have no fears at all they are cooking the numbers. However, since @Paruwi posted a chart that said we were at 200K deaths a few days ago, and JHU has us at ~250 to go before 200K, added to the fact we all know there’s chicanery afoot over here with the numbers, ya gotta wonder.
i guess you're right here.......
Didn’t mean to get political, but since that’s what’s been done to it over here, it’s hard not to. I wish I had family in a tropical area to which I could relocate, but the only international family I have is in Niagara Falls. Winters are brutal in Niagara Falls.
We've been moved up a notch to alert level 4 of 5 here, Looks like a lot more restrictions to be introduced because of high infection rates especially in the 20-40 age groups.
It's shopping day today and I wonder if there's going to be another toilet roll fiasco on the cards
Dunny rolls were scarce even for a while when we went into the second wave lockdown, but settled back quickly.
According to Johns Hopkins University, we just passed 200,000 dead. It’s 10:47 AM CDT.
The University of Washington model (IHME) shows that we could go over 400K by the end of the year. The worst case scenario (upper limit of mandates easing) is 580K.
Border restrictions between state borders relaxed slightly today though not so much for Victoria.
Here we go again! Round two. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-54283153
Scottish students banned from going to the pub That must be a thankless task telling them they cant go on the pish lol https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-54285720
