2002-2008 was a great period for Epiphone guitars. It was a time when they brought to the guitar market the wonderfully appointed Elite/Elitist line of guitars. I've owned many over the years and have moved along many but always come back to have one. Just such a solid, well built, great playing and great looking set of guitars.

Got one? Let's see it! Tell us your thoughts and stories. And maybe...just maybe we can create a lobby to have the series return to production!!!

Here's an Elitist Tak Matsumoto Signature I had at one time. Killer top and the pickups (Burstbucker 2 and 3) were outstanding! The middle position was super woody and had this wonderful clear knock that is very rare at times in a Les Paul. I've had a few Tak's and they were all off the charts great.

Here is another that I had at one time and moved it along to a fellow MLP member in Sweden. I tried to get it back but as you will see he wouldn't send it back!! This was an Elitist made for the Japanese market. Note the Gibson open book headstock. I believe the year of this guitar was 2002. Incredible grain on this plaintop...likely the best looking plaintop in the entire Elite/Elitist run maybe?

Yeah, that is a WONDERFUL Tobacco/Darkburst. Sometimes on Epi's they spray that burst sooo wrong. It goes from dark, dark tobacco right to the light yellow center. No gradual fade. This one posted is perfect!

I didn't get one when they were out - so I had to get me a FGN NeoClassic some weeks ago, basicly an Elitist...

....WOW 1450 Euros is STEEP even for a very nice topped Elite/Elitist. I'm eyeing one right now and it won't cost anywhere near that....hopefully!

I've noticed the prices creeping up the last couple of months. I don't know what the reason is, but I have a hunch it might be because "Brand G" had such a steep price increase and added a bunch of new "features" that nobody asked for.

Here's my '02 VSB. Although it's a fine guitar by most measurements, it just can't hold a candle to my '07. The '07 is a once-in-a-lifetime instrument. The '02 has been converted back to stock, except for '50s wiring and Russian PIO caps, since I've reluctantly concluded that it'll just be my backup:

i am no epiphone elitist user (yet?) but the one Paruwi is mentioning is way overpriced for 1400bucks.
i dont see it getting a new owner pretty soon for that steep price.
however it would be nice to play one to compare with one own hands and ears.
until then i'd rather stick with my Fujigen-made FGN LC10
Cheers and Enjoyment to all Elitist Owners!

Not yet. I got a call from Sweetwater on Monday, telling me that their sales manager had a little talk with Epiphone about them only sending out 1 or 2 at a time. Supposedly Epi promised them that all outstanding orders would be filled within 30 days, plus some extras.
