First €pi LP: better a Samick 94 - a Tribute 60 (china) or, at least a brand new 1959

Good morning everyone, first post here from Italy.
After playing bass i'm gonna return to the six strings. As you can understand i'm not much familiar with all the models...
In marketplaces near me i could find, as i said, a korean '94, and a tribute 1960 (china 2010, i think) these are the two the most i'd like.
The third option, but a little more expensive, is a brand new 1959.

Can you help me somehow? I need a guitar comfortable, not the best of the world, but good enough to have not complains for some years...
Thank you.
I love €pi's as i have from a long time a jack Casady signature.

Hi there. My choice on the two used ones would come down to the condition of the guitar and frets. Quality-wise the two are comparable when they were brand new.
A brand new '59 would be nice if you are willing to pay the price - nice Gibson pickups too. '59 also features a slightly more premium construction (and comes with a case), but would obviously cost a bit more.

Comfort-wise - a les paul is a les paul  I suppose you could ask the sellers about the weight too.

They should all three satisfy your needs. If you have a chance to try them all, pick the one that talks to you the more. That is the one you'll play more and that is what you want. Don't mind the electronics and the sound they produce, your amp has 100 times more impact on that.

I thought these were such a great value that I ordered two. They are nice, but not so nice as to not play them outside of my house. Fantastic necks on them.

These are the 1959 versions

I believe the 60's tributes have a slim profile neck? They seem to be speced like the 59's with the Gibson 57s loong neck tenon case and everything. I hear they are really nice guitars. I have never played one though. My vote would be the newer 59 they just put out. But the 3 you mentioned are all nice guitars so you really can't go worng. Good luck man let us know what you decide...

sorry, i don't understand. You're saying which are better, 57s or BBs?
thanks

Just saying that out of the 4 59 midels I own I have only 2 of them left with the Burst buckers still in them. I have never tried the 57 pick ups but I hear they sound really well. I like the Burst Buckers but don't need 4 guitars with the same Burst Buckers so i have sold 2 pairs off and put something different in the 2 ...

I don't know about the 60 Tribute, but the 60 Tribute Plus has one of the skinniest necks I've played on a LP. At the other end of the spectrum with the fat 59 neck.

Great guitar, but the neck had me sell it.

Real.
F31 makes it a 2012

F-Serial used on LP Std'59/'60 models and Tribute/Plus models
This newest serial number system used by Epiphone is not yet completely deciphered.

'F' doesn't refer to 'Fine, Korea' - nor to 'Fuji-gen, Japan' - New "F" models are made in China.

This serial number system doesn't exactly tell the year - and doesn't tell the month at all.

  • Beginning with F300000 in late 2009 used on LP Std'59/Std'60/Tribute models
  • Continued around F310650~F311050 in spring 2012 on Tribute-Plus models
  • Continued around F305000 in 2011
  • Continued around F310000 in 2012
  • Continued around F317000 in 2013
  • Continued around F324000 in 2014
  • Continued around F330000 in 2015
  • Continued around F340000 in 2018

First of all wanted to say Thank you. This Forum helped me a lot in this (hard) choice.
The Tribute60 just arrived home, cant wait to play it.
I think i made the right choice, and i'm happy.
Soon i will try and try it, even take some pictures, i love it. The colour, oh my, the classic cherryburst is even better alive than in the pictures i had seen.
