I'm with you. My older daughters love gift cards to their favorite restaurant and my grandson whose a college frosh has become addicted to chicken fingers from Raising Cane so Gramps will "feed" his addiction. Hey....I was that young once too. Not as many fast food choices though.

Up here everyone is close so I can either use gift cards, Amazon, or simply buy whatever clothes she knows my granddaughters need and mark those from Grandpa and I will reimburse her for shopping them.

Daughter #4 is still not accepting me as a part of her life but she gets a gift card anyway which she never refuses. I guess her apathy and detachment has it's limits.

More of the same today, but cooler temps, so less sweat. My carport and yard are covered with willow oak leaves, and there’s not a tree on my property. There is a monster willow oak in the neighbor‘s yard, but it helps keep us cool in the summer, and I’ve told the neighbor I would support some trimming, but if she intended to take it down, I’d chain myself to it.

To tell the truth, when my parents were alive we'd gather stuff up here from wherever and send it up in a big box. Which was always more stressful and expensive than it ever needed to be.

When the pandemic happened, there was no way I was going to the mall or stores on Black Friday as one typically does. We did the Amazon eBay Christmas out of virtual necessity. After that, it became clear that unless it's a local item being sent, it makes more sense (for me especially with my schedule and operating hours) to just order the stuff with gift receipts and have them delivered to another household member for wrapping. (Yes, I've sent wrapping paper etc.)

There's also an inventory advantage, I can send Vikings merch to my brother in Commies territory while living in Bucville.

I did screw up and accidentally text my nieces in our group chat that they should check their emails (for the gift cards) it was supposed to be a scheduled message for 10am on the 25th but it went out at 0-dark-thirty right then and there.

Overnight snow & weather warnings out for more snow & ice later. Top temp of 0C today, I could go a bit of Florida or Aussie warm weather at the moment. :thumb:
I've resurrected the hot water bottles out of the drawer & got one on the back of my chair. :yesway:

Starry, Starry Night......is what we have here with clear skies and a temp of 20F at 4:15 AM. Yeah, I'm up very early but I also went to bed very early to sleep off a brutal week.

I'm finding the most difficult thing about this job is finding enough ways to still be cordial to some of the complete idiots I speak with on the phone. You would think that someone who wanted my help would come just a little better prepared with the info I need to assist them yet somehow they must believe I can read their minds or that I have a trough of personal info on what they need at my finger tips. I don't.

We make products for well over 150 different devices and as many as a dozen different cases for many of them and in many cases several different colors as well. And that's not including screen protection and various power products to charge the device. So when someone calls to say they need to replace their OtterBox there isn't only one OtterBox made special for their phone alone. I do need some specifics.

OK, enough of that little rant.

Our highs are gonna be between the mid 40s and the mid 50s through Monday. Then we'll get hit with some snow and below freezing temps for the following week with some nighttime lows in single digit land.

It's most definitely winter in the Rockies.

Let it snow, let is snow, let it snow.

As much as we may hate it the western mountains need snow and lots of it. We're drying up out here.

Oh mate, you are welcome here anytime, spare bedroom is available! It’s gonna be a warmer today.

One of our friends this winter had a well used rubber water bottle burst drenching her with almost boiling water. She faced months of painful treatment as a result.

Thanks Digger:yesway: I could go a bit of 28C. Temps are still around 0C-1C today. Icy underfoot & I wont be moving from the front of the fire today :thumb:

Ouch! That's terrible for your friend. I think these are only a couple of years old from memory, I've got one filled right now on my chair. These low temps have clobbered all my flower seedlings that are supposed to be frost hardy. Even the Winter sown broad beans are all flat on the beds in the greenhouse  I'll need to bide my time & sow some more in the new year.
I'm saving the heat pads & grow lights cabinet for the heat loving plants tomatoes & bell peppers etc.

Dark and cloudy outside, moderately chilly at 50f. Some of the local mountains are getting 16" of snow this weekend, snowboard season has begun.

I had plans to catch up on yard work today and clean my garage, but seems like I am stuck indoors.

Instead I will spend a bit of time rearranging my guitar and books room and modifying that Strat-ish-castor that was under my couch. The nuts arrived last night along with something I now know that I lived without for too long.. a string winder.

I will be stuck inside myself today but it’s not snow here but steady rain. There’s a lake all around the house but then I guess I won’t need to water~

Boring!

I almost hate to claim that here it's very sunny and somewhat pleasant 47F headed even higher later this afternoon. It's a gorgeous winter day but very dry with the RH at just 22%.

Blue sky no wind and highs of 1C today and going back down to about -7 tonight with 82% humidity. It feels colder than it actually is.

I just finished smearing some vaseline on the door sealing rubbers on my car. The door was frozen shut last Friday morning.. Which was a nice surprize to start the day at 5 AM

Looks like today is gonna be our last warm sunny day for a bit. We're due to get hit with a major storm starting tonight and running through tomorrow and into Wednesday. Then it's freezing temps and snow off an on for the next week or so. Winter hath cometh.

Still chilly and rainy. Rain was supposed to stop yesterday at 11am. Checked my phone and no rain in the next few days. Cool! I went outside and put up my Christmas lights, complete with my llama at the gate to greet people.

Woke up this morning and Bixby told me it's raining. Damn it. My llama got wet.

Good news is, I spent a few hours rearranging my book/guitar room and visualizing what it will be in the next year or so. My couch fits where I want it, I have room for a book shelf where I want one, and on the third wall I have room for a moderately sized fish tank and a nice amp rack. If I get started on it this Spring I can be done by this time next year.
