Ooh, I did not know that. The older doctor in the practice, now retired, wanted me to wear the wraparound NASCAR driver shades for full solar protection, but without spending a fortune on them, I look like, well, a NASCAR fan. The frames the bird sits on over to the left are my third pair of this style, and I’d like to keep them.
I had no idea either, but a quick search and here we are.

Pretty sure they'd be a good snag for me too if I can get them through Sam's. These "old guy" 'scripts ain't cheap.

I typically wear a wide brim hat outside inc. polarised “Aviator” glasses. Yeah I know Tom Cruise, eat your heart out! However I have already lost the end of my nose to skin cancer and living waaaay down south the sun is particularly ferocious due to depletion of the southern ozone layer. Our motto here is “Slip Slop Slap” meaning Slip on a hat! Slop on some sunscreen and Slap on a shirt!

I’ve just been outside trimming a bunch of weeds determined to hide my shed and then wandering around with a backpack spray full of glyphosate to end their rampage. At least I have a week before I need to do them again~

It got a bit uncomfortable exerting for a couple of hours in the sun and I’ve come in to drip dry. That was 11.30 so approaching the hottest part of the day.

Then there’s the Old Fart factor where everything physical seems 3X harder than it did a few years ago….Sigh~

However, onward and upward and stuff the world!

My lenses run near $400 through the doctor’s office and lab I see right now. They’re among the best in town, but they’re also in the poohpooh part of town. The frames I’m wearing came online from RayBan for $120. At their office, where I first saw them, $350. Now the younger partner has taken the reins, and I’ve only seen him a time or two. Memphis being a large medical center for the southeast means I may can find another doctor in a lesser part of town without the stupid high prices.

I hear ya. I went to LensCrappers and spent the better part of $700 for my Transitions™ progressive low aspect fancy key word blah blah specs so I could see properly. Then we go to Costco (we had a membership because it paid off for car rentals) and SWMBO got her similarly spec'd (different 'script) glasses for less than $250. This year she went to Sam's and it was a similar deal, so it seems that might be a good decision.

How's our weather? Well, lemme tell ya bub.

It's gonna suck tomorrow, suck a little more on Sunday, and suck a whole lot more on Monday. Three days of sleet and snow piled on top of what's already on the ground, overnight lows below zero, and once it "warms up" the highs still won't get above freezing.

I'm thinkin' of invitin' Raiyn over for the weekend. He'll love it.

Not a fan of sleet, but the rest sounds decent enough.

The last couple trips up to MN brought record or near record cold followed by a near immediate warm-up when we left.

Cold, damp cloudy, and windy at the market. It supposedly hit 48°/9° before we left, but the wind, no sun, and the damp made it worse than the past two weeks, where it never got over 37°/3°, but the wind was puffy to non existent, Sol smiled upon us, and that was splendid.

It's always pleasing to have a 90's Canadian Indie Band smiling upon you . :D

No more sleet. Just a nice heavy snowfall. Get yer butt up here quick. We can build a snow fort and make snow angels Minny style.

At this early hour of the morn sleep has not found me all night long so it looks like I'm gonna be due for another grandpa nap in awhile.

At 5:30 AM it's a balmy 4F above zero with a very light snow still falling and it more than like will continue throughout the day. It doesn't look like we'll accumulate more than a few inches but that's due mostly to these frigid temps. Today's high will only get to 8F above and our overnight low is forecast at -5F below. It's unusually cold for late Jan.

7:00 PM, it's chill -1 below zero with some light powdery snow falling.

Gonna brush the snow off the chairs on the patio and get ready for Raiyn to arrive. Most likely he'll want to sit out there and talk football over a beer.
