And on the weather scene at midnight it is 34F and large white very wet snowflakes are falling....as expected. As temps dip overnight I expect we'll get some accumulation but how much I don't know. Tomorrow's high is forecast at just 40F with more snow possible on Sunday. Winter is struggling to keep us in it's grips. Raiyn would like it though. :D

Blimey! That's a bit brutal for this time of year  Has nobody told the weather gods that it's the end of March :D

It's been a wild windy night with rain battering the bedroom windows for most of the night. Those trays of bedding plants I planted out the other day look like they've been through a whirlwind. :frown:
The wind abated a tad this morning but still a stiff breeze with strong gusts, Top temps of 10C.

Yup, it's presently 24F, sky is grey, leaves are brown, there's a touch of snow on the ground. (sorry Paul Simon). Actually more like 4" of wet heavy stuff. I expect that eventually the sun will break through and melt some of it but it's not gonna be a springlike day today. It's still a "hazy shade of winter". :frown:

Lovely spring day, cool in the morning, but respectably warm this afternoon. However, the storms of last night dropped a big old tree in a neighbor’s yard a few doors down.

The wind has changed to the opposite direction bringing cold air from the north & the temps have dropped, Lovely sunny day with a high of 7C later today but more worryingly temps are dropping to freezing overnight :ohno: Looks like I'll be getting the sheets of bubble wrap out again to cover the seedlings in the greenhouse.

I shouldn't be surprised as it happens every year trying to get a head start on the growing season :frown: I noticed a casualty of the frosts yesterday, A big beautiful ceramic pot I grew mint in had split right around ithe belly of the pot from ice expansion, When I went to pick it up to change the compost the top half separated from the bottom.:frown:

So 24C expected for this Sunday. I’ll take it!
LOL you get 24C and like it while I get 24F and want it to warm the hell up. LOL

Partly cloudy day and the temp never got about 40F. We're expecting more sleet and snow tonight and into tomorrow so spring is still being crowded out by the death throes of winter. Curse you winter, curse you.

We hit 81°/27° under sunny skies, but it was a bit humid still, so we really haven’t gotten many of those delightful spring days, and may not. I recall an outside art fest a few years ago in mid April, and we were wrapped up in blankets it was so cold. Weird Mid South weather.

Yesterday it drizzled all day and I didn’t go out once!

Today may be the same sort of weather though warmer and more rain than just drizzle expected. I have to take Bella in for grooming this morning so it will get me out for a couple of hours at least.

Because of the heavy overcast yesterday the solar battery only reached 55% of capacity. This morning it was down to 28%. Intersting as it may be some indication of how things will go in winter with less sunlight. Not sure but we are likely heating our HWS of an evening still and next time we have an electrician here we will get it changed over to daytime where we regularly have too much even to feed back into the grid. Nighttime in winter is likely to be the only time we draw from the grid, though it may never happen and we may exist solely off the solar.
There us a connection fee but am hoping it will largely be offset by the pittance we are allowed for feeding excess back to the grid.

Apparently with high sunspot activity ATM, Tasmanians are being treated to a strong display from the Aurora Australis
though it’s being caught on camera more than with the naked eye.

I read the other day that the southern ozone layer was damaged hugely after the 2019 bushfires that we had here in the south. Far more than our emissions could ever cause.

Of course the protracted dry that made the fires so bad was likley caused by global warming.

Total opposite of yesterdays blue skies & sunshine albeit chilly, We have dark grey skies & it's chucking it down. It'll be indoor activities today. Top temps of 9C.
