I've just done a new finish on my my Epiphone LP (Early 2000 - Model) .
I'm also going to invest in new PUs and I have my eyes on
Gretsch FilterTron HS - Series PUs based on their low price and positive user rates .

But I've got some feedback from a online music-store,
"if your LP version has standard humbucker pickup routings, this
pickup will not fit into the cavity ."

Now, does this mean, that the wiring should be re-done or what ?

    HELP ASAP,
    - T -

it means that the pickups are different sizes and will not be a "drop in " replacement.

Yup, you're looking at having to rout the body for those Filter-Trons to fit.

Tv Jones makes all sorts of humbucker and p90 drop in filtertrons.

Filtertron aren't P90 size? Certainly not humbucker size, right? (I'm seeking clarity in this one, too...bear with me...)

No. Humbuckers, P90s, and Filter'Trons are different sizes. You can buy FT-like pickups or P90-like pickups that fit a humbucker cavity and they may sound just fine. However, some people swear that the geometry is the sine qua non of those pickups. In the end, it's all about what you hear.

Top to bottom: Blacktop Filter'Tron, BroadTron (humbucker), P90.
