Thanks for allowing me into the group. I recently bought a dark cherry Dot Studio used and I've been wanting it for a long time. It sounds wonderful....except: bottom E 5th fret causing a buzz. Any suggestions for a quick home remedy before I run it over to the shop?

Welcome! It might be acclimating to your house, a few guitars I've brought home did that for a few days. If not maybe turn the truss rod an eighth to add some relief, give it a day and check, repeat if necessary.

Now quick, add pics before we harass you for pics

Yup, welcome to our little slice of guitar heaven.

As Darkness pointed out the fret buzz issue could be little more than an indication of the neck needing a bit more relief. Or, the bridge on the low E side may simply need to be raised a small amount. Or both. Such is the mechanics of a setup.

Give the truss rod a small turn counterclockwise, tune back to pitch, then check it again after a few hours, or longer and see where you're at with it then. If the neck relief seems proper the next step would be to raise the low E side of the bridge a small amount.

It pays to learn all of the tricks and ticks of doing your own setups but if you feel you're not quite there yet having a pro do it for you and maybe even allow you to watch while he takes you through it is never a waste of time or money IMHO. It only adds to your enjoyment off the guitar.
