Finally the build is finished! Created by my friend John (Johnny Gtar) and I did some stuff as well. Templates, Designs, Logos etc. Specs: Flamed Maple Top. Sipo Mahogany Back and Neck. Tru oil finish Makassar Ebony board. EMG 66-7, 57-7 pickups and electronics. 22 Frets.
Thanks Rayin, No Idea, he is not into gaming much, but he is a hell of player... it was certainly an adventure to see this take form, I'm glad it surpassed my expectations. John, The heastock is a character is onethat I created for a certain personal project, we decided to do a pinup of her, and it's probably the one thing that screams that this one is mine. Wildeman, I'm Glad you like it mate! Here's is how she looks from the back.
@ wildeman, Johnny did it that way. he said it's the optimal place to locate it, since the top has an extreme carve(it's abit more than an Inch thick), TOM sits pretty high, so I guess he wanted to decrease the angle to the tailpiece. It's definitely more comfortable to play and sounds snappier than the Gibby. In a normal gibson, if the tailpiece was placed there, it would simulate the topwrapping effect/angle without actually needing to topwrap. I will post some side shots once im back at home.
Thanks a lot Davis! I'm glad I did a small number on the build as well, I could be easily be an observer if it was done differently.
Love the detail in this! The volute, the heel carve, the belly cut, & the pronounced top carve make it look Very comfortable! Great work! Nicely figured top, glad you decided on a tru oil finish.
Ιt is very comfortable, the TOM placement and string angle make a very good hand rest. I also like the tailstop placement, at first I thought it would look weird, but now it's the other way around, the guitar looks like it has less unused space. I love the top, I searched the whole internet and decided to get that specific one... But man the sound of this guitar... I still can't get over the way it sounds. I haven't witnessed anything like\close to it. Aaaand I'm gathering materials for the next one, which will have similar specs (other than woods and pups) Pale moon ebony, has some flamed spots as well. Headstock and fingerboard. 3pc Swamp Ash for top. The rest will be gathered eventually. It will be a slow burning project.
That's some sweet looking Ebony, I hope the color variations make it thru the sanding process. Kinda has that spalted look as well. What's the plan for the top, color, or clear? If it wants to burn slow, let it, you don't get results like the one up top by rushing things. Looking forward to the progress reports. Great work S.E., keep em coming!
it's already sanded, so it will most likely look like that in the end. I guess spalted is pretty much right for this one, just splated and flamed ebony. I always wanted a Voodoo so.... I have already modeled a Top, but I'm sure I will make a new model and use Johnny's carve... Amurita will strike a new pose for the headstock, New VII Logo. Btw here's how the original looks, I wanted to make a video game, but probably it will be an illustrated book or a booklet material, If I ever manage to become competent enough to write interesting music. I also have one non traditional guitar design in the works, who knows it might come alive at some point.
Santa came early!!! And brought me the most beautiful piece of wood I could find. We will cut it in half and use it as top and back, the core wood will be plain maple, let's see what I will be able to find for a nice looking neck
Great job on that beauty. I bet you take a lot of pride in your work. May you get many years of playing out of it. ;>)/
John and BlackSG91 thank you very much for your kind words, the first one is certainly dear to my heart, but I would love the "soon" to be made one, to be even better. In some regards, we know better now. The name of the new one will be Scarlet. Imagine what would happen if VII, Slashes snakepit, and Gibson 2016 voodoo had a baby. She will be even more special to me. Btw the new piece of wood is actually curly Sweet Chestnut. It will replace the swamp ash I got earlier. Same looks plus it's flamey^^
Today I got those as well, Johnny will make a Red Special for himself. I did the templates based on picturs, drawings and measurements found on the net. The body outline is based on the reissues, rather than the original, which is a bit wobbly.
