Last update for this year^^ We got a nice neck blank and made some progress.
I decided that the core of the guitar will be padauk, hopefully it will not weight more than 8kg.
    "VII" is around 7kg. :D

Maple neck and Parts Arrived today, EMG 57-7\66-7, Hipshot Tone-A-Matic bridge and tailpiece, and Sperzel locking tuners.
Now we are waiting for pup rings and knobs :) Also finished the graphics but most likely they wont be used...

I was lucky that tuners and bridge are very similar in color (matte black)
the rest of the hardware will be black chrome.

You absolutely have to tell us about that bridge when you have it installed. I've been eyeballing one of those for quite a while, but never pulled the trigger - largely due to price.

I'm surprised you didn't go Hipshot for the tuners as well. I've got a couple sets I'm quite pleased with; so much so I made them my default for mods.

Thank you all for your kind words!
I believe it as well! I might not have another opportunity for something expensive like that.

    Glad you like it !!!

I will comment on it for sure. So far I can only tell that it's visually striking (I really like it) and very lightweight, it feels like a quality part.
Regarding the tuners, sperzels are the best ones I ever used, nothing against hipshot ones, just shipping costs and taxes made them a tad too expensive to try them. So price and familiarity was the deciding factor.

Very beautiful guitar. There is something wrong with it though... it has too many strings!

    Just kidding!

Some days are better than others, Progress at last^^
Johnny cut the core body (swamp ash), next week we will glue the top and back (sweet chestnut).
Oh yes, that's a 7 piece body, quite fitting number:hmm:
    Also headstock design!

    Thank you mate!
    I really hope so^^
The Guitar is the only thing I have, that brings me joy these days.
I'm really tired of 3d projects and such, waisted 6 years of my life trying to make it, got close enough...
now I want to use that knowledge on something I really like.
I plan to make or CNC bodies at least, and learn to make hand-carved necks, or Johnny will make them?.
it's such an expensive endeavour though...

Already designing the next guitar, however I'm really anxious for the current one.
And still some of the design elements are not finalized.
Hopefully we well visit the shop this weekend.

    Finally we did some stuff!!!
Planned the core body and glued the back to it.
We cut the top and made the pup cavities.
I "cleaned" the routes by hand... in other words, I botched them a bit, but not enough to trigger my OCD.
Pups fit in the top with some room as well, it's 3cm thick, so we will just glue it to the body.
Last but not least, tried the graphics I made for her.

    Was a good day today!
Hopefully we will continue the build sooner than later!!!

We visited the "shop" two days ago, I got to sand and smooth the body down, Johnny glued the top to the body, She is gonna be a fine thicc lady. Next time, I'm cutting fretslots, and Johnny will start the carve.

Time to update the thread, while I'm waiting for a proper aluminium sanding beam to arrive.
We will use acrylic paints for the body and probably some sort of poly spray (satin-matte) finish on the body.
Neck will eithe be the same as body or oiled.

I was sanding this thing to 16 radius for about 3 hours.

Hahaha! Don't worry, I will let him play it, just to see how authentic should really be!
In the meantime I have to decide what to do with the "floor" guitar.
