Sometimes stock pickups are just as good as the aftermarket. After all it’s just about getting the sound you like. I generally leave the stock pickups unless they are too weak or bright sounding.

And those problems can often be solved by rolling down the tone pot to get rid of brighness and adjusting height to help a weak pickup.

He came back the next week and made those... they're called mini-humbuckers.

There appears to be as much mystery surrounding this as who created the first electric guitar. ;)

Depends on what kind of style i feel like playing. Punk and anything in that direction i prefer the raw, slightly thinner gritty sound. For blues type music i like the fat warm sound of a humbucker with the tone dialed back a little. If i want a slightly thinner and more chimey sound i choose the p90. For a warmer and thicker sound i like humbuckers.
I took on the habbit of rotating my guitars. Each time i play i pick up the next in line so i play all of them instead of just one or two.
At first i wasn't much of a fan of p90's but after being told to drop it down low and playing my bfg frequently i started liking them a lot more.

You might have actually been the one that told me. BFG is my Gibson Les Paul bfg. I have posted some pics on this forum in the other guitars thread. The one i put gold hardware on and a cream p90 cover and at the moment a Gibson p94 in the bridge in place of the burstbucker 3 to make it all single coil.
In the pics i posted it was a Lollar novel 90 in the bridge, but i found a Gibson p94 cheap which i wanted to try out.
The p94 has more growl and grit than the novel 90 which has a bit warmer and smoother tone to it.
There is a pick of the bfg in the ''Epiphone talk p90 club'' thread on the 5th page

Humbuckers if I had to have only 1 kind.
    Luckily, I don’t.

I prefer P90s on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Humbuckers on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays.

Same as comparing apples and oranges. Really no point. I love different kinds of humbuckers, P90s and/or other singlecoils. It all depends on what you need or want at the moment.
