Nice job on the conversion.

All this talk about this guitar got my attention. I think I want one of those with the p90s now. I didn't realize they could be had for so cheap, and I like the idea of a guitar without veneer.

That particular one must be a freak one off. I've never seen one of those Special without veneer. Doesn't make sense at that price point.

For once, the Yellow is cheaper than the black or red at MF !

"I once did this on a 70’s Norlin Gibson some years back.
I still regret it."

I'd never consider doing this mod to a Gibson, but this isn't one.

I believe it is; I wouldn't count on finding another one like it.

Thats a bummer but not a big deal at this price. Now I'm curious how they can hide the veneer without a binding. That's skill.

I saw that pricing, curious if the reason the TV yellow is hard to get is because of the pricing or because it simply looks better than other colors.

That looks thicker than I imagined. I need to learn some of their techniques, I could build a nicer coffee table for myself.

There are P90 sized humbuckers that will fit right in the existing routes.

Mini humbuckers were developed specifically for that reason. So Gibson could fit hb's into bodies that had already been routed for P90's without having to modify the bodies.

"Yes they do have veneer."
No, this one doesn't; it's a 3-piece mahogany body with no veneer. I've attached some photos that I've enhanced showing clearly that there is no veneer.
But really, this was an inexpensive guitar that had a few QC issues when I got it. The strings were like stiff cables, the bridge was set WAY high on the treble side, and I had to slightly enlarge the pickup routes because the the covers fit so tight they couldn't be adjusted up or down. It's the perfect guitar to mod, and it's gonna be fun.

Reminds me of my Indio 66 DLX Plus Goldtop. I'm about 95% sure the mahog body is 1 piece once you follow the grain lines like you show here. I thought it was a multi-piece body but what I thought were edges of boards butted up were actually just grain lines that don't go all the way around like yours. Sorry if that's confusing. It's hard to explain.
