Trying to decipher this SN from an Epiphone ES-335 Dot: R012C2951. This doesn't seem to fit any of the normal Epiphone SN formats I can find. Seems like there's one too many digits btw the "R" and the "C".

Thanks! Can you help me understand the code? I know that R=Peerless. I'm assuming the next 2 digits, "01"= the year, 2001. I'm pretty sure C=March and the 2951 is the instrument number. So, that leaves the number "2" in front to the "C" ... what do you think that stands for?

Yes, I understand this, but my SN has 9 (not 8) characters. There seems to be a mystery "2" just before the "C". Any thoughts?
