Nice demos. Thanks for posting.

Those guitars are beautiful. Unfortunately, as I mainly play seated, they are too large and uncomfortable. So I have to stick with the 339/Coupe size.

But if I had to pick, it would be the Sheraton.

Three of the dog ears is a bit clumsy looking. 3 soap bars?? Kind of perfect.

The p90 339 is a fantastic looking machine.

So I’m with the Sheraton. But the p90’s in a semi hollow body is pretty amazing.

Any preference, such a hard question! The sheraton sounds clearer but in this track the extra grit from the riviera just fits better (in my ears). Plus that deep wine red! I love it. I guess it's the riviera for me. My local Long and McQuade only has the sheraton pros II (no PLain sheraton) but the prices seem comparable. They've been on my radar for awhile but I've been buying artcores lately instead.

So I'm looking online but I don't see any mention of a Riviera model that came without a bigsby. Did they ever sell one, or would that be a md?

Ever? Yes. The original Rivera from the '60s (the one I lust after) had mini-buckers & a Frequensator*; there have been reissues of it, as well.

*That's the 6-string; the 12 - which I lust after even more - had a Casino-syle tailpiece.

In the 90's Epiphone made a Riviera with humbuckers (or mini-hums) and a Frequensator tailpiece instead of the (optional) Bigsby.

If you're hoping for P90's and no bigsby, you're out of luck. Though, you could get one with mini-hums and replace those with P90's.

Have to say, P90's on a semi hollow is my drug of choice. But 3 on the Riviera never appealed, and I loved the feel of my Sheraton, so like TWANG I did it myself. Bare Knuckle Mississippi Queen at the neck and a TV Jones T90 at the bridge. This guitar is a blues monster and will go from sweet and woody to growl, snarl and spit. Photobucket have decided I don't need to access my account right now, I'll post a pic later if I can.

I did the same thing years ago. ‘95 Riviera with Gibson P94 pickups. Great combo. These days I have a Gibson Luther Dickinson 335 with dogears.

That Riviera sounds awesome - what a great studio guitar that would be.
