Does anyone know what year the Korean Samick guitars changed their bridge string spacing to 52mm from 50mm and post spacing from 72mm to 74mm. I actually have an 1986 Aria Pro 2 TA 80 TR. It is virtually an epiphone sheraton has all the same specs as the early 80s - 90s Samick with the narrow bridge. It has the Bigsby style trem. I know Kluson Make a drop in replacement bridge to fit but I am after a roller bridge version to go with my Bigsby.

Also Im after a Casino, do they have the same bridge spacing problem from Samic as well.

cheers all great to see an Epiphone Forum

I own an 2005 Epiphone Les Paul '56 Goldtop made in Korea.

I measured the bridge with it still on the guitar and got something approx 73.5mm.

I then mistakenly purchased a 74mm Tune-O-Matic (TOM) bridge from GraphTech - thinking my post spacing was ~73.5mm - and it did not fit.

I re-measured the bridge post-spacing (used a metric caliper) with it off the guitar while changing strings and it was closer to 73.00mm which explained why the part I purchased didn't fit

I also own a LTD Phoenix 401, also made in Korea, and its TOM bridge measures to approx the same post spacing of ~73mm as my Epi Goldtop.

Many 3rd party upgrade companies for TOM bridges either don't post their specs, advertise as for foreign made Gibson/Epi's, post a warning: "this won't work on foreign made Epiphone's", or spec the post-spacing from 73.33, 73.66, 74mm or some other confusing measurement.

I contacted ESP/LTD about the specs for the Phoenix 401's Tune O Matic bridge and they sent me a link on eBay for "Tune-O-Matic Bridge BM003 Chrome by Sung-il Korea for LP SG 335 TOM NEW" - I can't post a link here but if you search eBay for this heading it should come up.

as a side note: I also contacted Epiphone/Gibson about this and they were clueless. :\

I am still waiting for delivery of the 73mm TOM bridge and will report whether or not it fits once I give it a try.

I hope this helps someone else owning a MIK Epiphone Les Paul.
    :)
