Customs are becoming a thing here. Specifically Epi and Gibson (for those that could afford). Shimamura's been selling lots of those, including the Aria ones too...

...because there's this popular animated adaptation of a comic strip about a slightly autistic girl that forms a band. In the show, she uses her dad's Gibson LP custom (should be a '68):

So in an effort to recreate her guitar, I swapped out the knobs/ switch tip, changed the tuners to Gotoh locking tuners (just because these were readily available - I did this JUST FOR THE KEYSTONES lol!!!). Got rid of the P-Rails too.. and voila:

My little contribution to Epiphone's bottom line (and TV Jones, and Biggsfix, and Gotoh, and Wilkinson, and Musiclily, and Bigsby, and Kluson, and Orange drop, and Switchcraft, and Tusq, and other producers of minor stuff like truss-rod covers, knobs and various other stuff I've forgotten the producers of).

Guitars are, from left to right: unmodified EL-00 (for that 1930's sound), (modified) Wildkat Royale, and (highly modified) ES345.

Wildkat modifications are: Gotoh locking tuners, black Tusq nut, Misiclily roller bridge, Biggsfix replacement bridge tension roller and "squishy" trem spring - all of which were necessary to fix the guitar's original inability to stay in tune. Black & chrome standard volume & tone knobs replaced with gold knobs from a Cort Yorktown guitar to better match the gold hardware. Guitar is a great player now, standard P90 pickups are surprisingly good, too.

ES-345 has just about everything changed - it now has Kluson locking tuners, Tusq nut, TV Jones Classic pickups, Wilkinson roller bridge, "Chet" Bigsby trem handle, replacement Varitone 6-way rotary switch (original would drop the volume by half whenever any but the "straight through" position was selected), new wiring loom using Switchcraft and Orange Drop gear along with vintage wiring (guitar is also now wired mono only), new gold volume & tone knobs to match the hardware.

Here are my two Epi's. 339 on the right which I bought about a year ago. Had 57 classics installed. It SMOKES! 50's LP I picked up new a few days ago. Amazing guitar out of the box. I wonder wiped it, polished body and frets and put new slinky 10's on it. It absolutely sings! Happy boy!!

Boxing Day sale booty. 2021 Epiphone Riviera. The Epiphone PRO mini humbuckers sound wonderfully open and bright. I had assumed I would switch them out but I don't think I will. They're great. The bridge pickup can get quite trebly, but the tone pot (CTS) has so much range. I can dial it all the way down to 2 and it's still not muddy, just gets progressively warmer. Paired with the neck pickup's openness, you can really get a lot of wonderful tonal variety blending the two and adjusting the tone controls. I'll likely add a Bigsby B7. IMG_2863.jpg

just got this delivered after almost a year and forgotten about it. I love these super basic finishes. I don't believe there's a lick of poly on these. 202x trad pro iv worn gold.
I believe the worn finish is actually a satin poly finish! There are a number of manufacturers that use this type of poly and it's great - it's almost indestructible but can be sprayed on very thin

Stunning. When you're ready to restring you might want to find longer strings than normal. When I strung mine up I was surprised the D string stayed on the tuner, the span is so long.
