An Epiphone Slash AFD guitar caught my eye the other day, and been debating it... sadly I live in the middle of no where so when these pop up for sale, it's usually a 2-3h drive so, I've not had the chance yet to try one.

Just curious about the specs on these... tried to Google it but finding varying details and quite often specs for the Special-II's version of the guitar.

Seller's ad shows it with case and certificate, and says 1of500 made. Also a number I've seen vary.

Anyone know much about these? Are they any good? Were only 500 made? What do I need to watch for in case a fake?

I've never considered a guitar that cost this much before (average price of these is around $850 in Canada) and I know what to look for for fake USA Gibsons, not so much Epi's. Been after a good deal on a used Epi the right colour to drop some APH's into... but be kinda nice to have something a bit less "standard" like a limited edition, especially if they put a bit more into it than the standard base models.

Nice...

Any idea how many made? Seller claims 500... I've also seen listed 1000, 2000 and up to 3000 were made.

I'm thinking probably 3000 made and 500 released to Canada or something. Though 3000 seems a bit high of a number for a limited run.

Limited run ? That is a very vague statement when it comes from Epiphone. I heard they build something like 700 guitars a day, so 3000 units is about a 4 day thing.

Makes you wonder, where they all are.... the rate they make them, then add in other guitar factories also making the same numbers... why doesn't everyone have a guitar in their house at this point. :D

I read reviews and apparently that Slash model is supposed to be really good, shame the limited run had so many. Not that it affects the play-ability or anything, just be nice to own something a bit more sought after and harder to find.

Right now, I mostly have cheaper used guitars that I fixed up, nothing over $200 (before upgrades)... kinda looking to go up a level and get something a bit nicer.

Why would you , " drop in some APH's," when Slash designed and plays these guitars and recommends them as out of the box ready. Asked at NAMM the difference between EPI LP's and Gibby's, he replied, " EGO," " headstock envy..."

That's not what I was saying... I was saying I've been keeping an eye open for a used epi that I liked and could drop APH-1's into.... THEN.... this caught my eye.

Was super nice, but so far away... I debated a day or two too long and not seen one for sale since. That was 3 months ago. Were 2 posted same time actually, but this one just had so much nicer flame to it. I still sigh when I think of it. Thanks for resurrecting a dead thread and making me sad again. :D
