That color REALLY works on most Fenders, but I can't imagine wanting it on any other guitar. A surf green hardtail jazzmaster is on my "one day" list.Unless it's Surf Green....
I also find my guitars on planet Earth tend to raise in action when played for a few moments, just enough to be annoyingly higher than they were when 1st picked up to be played. Ideally low action becomes "ugghhhh, I can't play this POS like this.". I've gotten to the point where the fret buzz & rattle is ignored creping into the set up at the last fret or two, because a few strums later it's gone & behold, guitar still in tune.This.
You can get it really close, but then you have to play it in to find out. Small adjustments to fine tune to where it's as close to perfection as you can get it over a few days or a week of playing in. Then one day you pick it up and it's off a little - the relief has shifted some minute about. A little adjustment and you're back in the perfection groove.
But that's the difference between "set up" and "Oh my, I love playing this guitar".
I'm starting to feel that way about the Smokehouse Burst & LP after seeing one of those in the wild. Makes me want a plate of BBQ ribs too. This one photo of a preowned Les Paul (Tobacco Burst ?), was a bar player when smoking indoors wasn't frowned upon. I normally don't have guitar envy, but if I'm going to have that, this one makes sense. That color REALLY works on most Fenders, but I can't imagine wanting it on any other guitar. This may be the next trend in guitar relic. Leave a guitar in that weird little glass smokers room at the airport a few years. This one photo of a preowned Les Paul (Tobacco Burst ?), was a bar player when smoking indoors wasn't frowned upon.
A guy I know relic'ed a Sawtooth Telecaster, I suggested he go and buy a pack of cigarettes and give the headstock some cigarette burns, the neck is pretty much the raw satin poly that looks like freshly cut maple lumber. It just looked out of place with the relic he did to the body. This may be the next trend in guitar relic. Leave a guitar in that weird little glass smokers room at the airport a few years.
I do like the look, can't determine why, but it is attractive.
Love how it looks!! It's almost close to an olive drab!Opened it up. Much darker than I had expected but this room has dim lighting. I won't really know until the sun is out. The finish is absolutely matte, and I think the dark color helps to announce that.
I'm getting to know it before I post anything. All I know for now is how it looks.

You'll get over that pretty quick. I will say, and this might only be a me thing, but I find going back and forth between my Fender scale axes and the SG to be pretty easy.Still feel like the cowboy frets are in another time zone
Is it the new model designed for use on the front lines in Ukraine? The finish is absolutely matte, and I think the dark color helps to announce that.
I haven't seen anybody do it on one of those, but I bet polishing it would bring the grain to show much more.Opened it up. Much darker than I had expected but this room has dim lighting. I shall call it BAYRAKTAR!Is it the new model designed for use on the front lines in Ukraine?
I'm curious if it is just part of the matte finish, but this one changes drastically in the sunlight. Similar to the LP Special.I haven't seen anybody do it on one of those, but I bet polishing it would bring the grain to show much more.
I like it more than I thought I would. Still feel like the cowboy frets are in another time zone but the ones below 12th are begging to be used.
I don't see any dead frets, the third one has a slight buzz but that seems to be a trend and isn't enough to bother me. Strings are actually pretty good and it hasn't made my fingers black, but fret board is chalky dry.

I prefer the outdoor shot, by a wide margin. A polish would have that thing looking like a green Jolly Rancher - and I'd back that look.I'm curious if it is just part of the matte finish, but this one changes drastically in the sunlight. Similar to the LP Special.
Looks like candy in the sun. A polish would be a bold move, tempting.
