I ran into this '90-'92? Epi LP Standard at a pawnshop today.

$1270 for this Epiphone is no laughing matter, and this discussion about this guitar should be take very seriously .

One of the employees gave the guy that pawned this Epi, WAY too much money for this guitar.

I think the guy pawning the guitar convinced him it was a "REAL" Gibson LP Standard because it had Gibson on the truss rod cover.

Anyway I alerted the store that it's an Epiphone regardless what the truss rod cover says.

I want to purchase it from them, but the might have a little too much money into it.

Without telling you what they'd let me have it for to get out from under it, I'd like to know what you guys would pay for this not including the tax.

If the forum consensus is a bit more than what they're willing to let it go for, I'll go pick it up tomorrow.

P.S - it does come with a hardshell case that looks like it belongs with this guitar. It doesn't have Epiphone anywhere on the case.

    Thanks in advance.

$300-500. Check reverb for MIK Les pauls. It seems to be the range.

In these stupid price times it could go for anything, but a real world price would be $300-$350

Thanks a lot guys for your input.

Since I'm new to all things Epiphone, i'm still not up to what years and models are the one's that are well built and hold their value.

I guess since I just picked up my '89/'90 Korean Samick Sheraton II, and these hold their value and are well regarded on the used market, I thought that most of the Epi models from those years were in the same league.

Obviously I was wrong about this Epi LP Standard.

Now that the pricing consensus is all about the same, I can tell you what they were going sell it to me for.

They have $430 in it, so they were going to get their money back now instead of sitting on it for a long time.

I thought the asking price was high, but since I'm not an authority on Epi guitars, I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks to everyone for their input.

Why do some seem to have a sticker or label for the serial number and others are printed or even carved (or maybe pressed) into the wood?

    I have a feeling @Paruwi may know.

Sticker before they found out they could print it and make it more permanent. Then stamped into the wood for even more permanence and because the big brother made it like that too.

Makes sense, thanks guys. I've been watching Craigslist for a cheap one to pop up and keep seeing different stickers or labels. Was curious if there is any sense to it or what to avoid.

If they’re that stupid, I’d be concentrating on selling to them, not buying.
