Ha ha......good point. Too much is still never quite enough is it?

But in this case if you saw my den you'd agree.

I'll start with the bass stack which is one Epifani 2x12 neo cab topped with another Epifani 1x12 ceramic cab. On top of those sits a 500w Carvin BX bass head.

Next door to it is my Egnater Tweaker sitting on top of a single 1x12 cab with the other spaced about 5' to it's left so I get some really nice depth/imaging w/two.

On top of the 1x12 extension cab sit my Turbosound IP300 that I use for my acoustics and for vocals. It's mini tower array and a perfect acoustic amp.

There are three guitar stands; one holding the electric of the week, one holding the bass of the week, and the other one acoustic. One must have variety.

Then there's my desk where I sit with my laptop typing this out to you now and a smaller desk/printer stand behind me that also a catch all for paperwork.

There's also the TV table my Tweaker/Speaker and effects sit on, a 7' sofa, a 3' wide bookcase, and a rather large coffee table which serves as my work bench.

If I had a big screen I'd virtually have to hang it from the ceiling than pay one of those bastard cable companies for monthly service which I will no longer do.

So.....this is me living the simple life surrounded by what I love most and rejecting what I love least. Being single also helps. Only I get to choose now.

Believe it or not even after all those year gigging it's not declined much.

I can probably credit that to playing bass more often than not. It's that shrieking high end and massive volume or standing too close to the cymbals that'll do you in every time.

I can think of only one club I've ever played where my only choice was to have a crash cymbal right adjacent to my left ear and I would go home with my ears ringing from that.

Fortunately we only played that place about a half dozen weekends and from then on I made certain to stand anywhere else but near that cymbal. Most places we were pretty well spread out but not there.

At home I play pretty quiet and clean more often than not. The opportunity to crank the amp into breakup or use my pedals for it is somewhat limited by having multiple neighbors whom I actually like and want to keep that way.

Our utility company that provides our Gas & electricity went bust yesterday along with 4-5 other utility companies There are another half dozen utility companies that need government help too The price of Gas has risen 250% since the start of this year I think it's the same situation with a lot of European countries too with record high prices & low reserves, Not only do we have some of the most expensive petrol in the world here we now have some of the highest gas prices too , Just as we're going into Winter too, Deep Joy.
We're waiting to hear from the government department that oversees energy as to what will happen getting us another energy supplier

We've had a bit of a spike in gasoline prices since the last hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. It goes up by quarters, and comes down by pennies.

As much as it pains me as a gearhead, I can see the end of the (mainstream) road for IC engines. I'm not overly heartbroken about it, but I'm still waiting for battery charging to get even remotely as quick as pumping a tank of gas. Get me back to high 90%'s rangewise from say 33-25% in <15 minutes in an affordable (not just purchase price, repairs too) car and the game is over.

Yeah I know what you're saying about the time it takes to charge them is a problem at the moment for a lot of people let alone the infrastructure not really being up to the job at present.

I still haven't used a public fast charger for mine yet Being retired & having no commute I can easily by within the range of the car daily & just plug it in overnight.

Looks like another trip to the supermarket is on the cards again already I wasted three hours yesterday afternoon making some gluten free bread for our daughter only to find out when the bread maker finished I'd forgotten to put the yeast in
I think I might stock up on toilet rolls because of the bare shelves in the stores due to the shortage of lorry drivers, Even petrol stations are closing in some parts of the country because they cant get a delivery & they've run out of fuel What a mess.

Yeah they're supposed to be regulated but this huge price hike in natural gas has left them running around like headless chickens, All utility companies here have to pay into a FIT (feed in tariff) which supports small-scale renewable energy generators, These companies that have gone bust have never been paying into the scheme & owe £765000, Supposedly the government suspend their energy providers licence if they don't pay up hence them all going bust.
The government says we wont lose any money but when they provide us with another energy supplier it will be more expensive than what we were paying.

Just back from doing a bit of shopping & what a waste of time the government telling people not to panic buy, Some petrol stations are closed because they cant get regular deliveries of fuel due to the lorry driver shortage & when I drove past our local BP station there were very long queues waiting to fuel up.
The big ASDA supermarket petrol station had queues halfway around the huge car park queuing for fuel I must admit I had a smug grin on my face as I went past them in my MG EV .

OK, so you all are having trouble with people not doing what the government has suggested too? With as little trust as some have in a central government these days I sometimes wonder if we wouldn't be better off if they just said the opposite of what they wanted everyone to do in a Tweet with a big winking eye.

I don't know what to say about the utility companies.

Unless you happen to be unfortunate enough to live in Texas most appear to be well enough regulated to assure they either remain in business or they're sold to other companies who can profitably provide service.

Texas was the only state I'm aware where people lost all power during a mid winter cold snap and their utilities who refused to "winterize" broke down and couldn't provide power or natural gas. Hundreds died.

That happened while we were up in MN enjoying -20° to -36°F temperatures like it was no big deal. We were wondering how Texas could be that dumb left in that unfortunate situation. Then there was something about a last minute trip to Cançun? Nothing says "I'm here for ya" like buggering off in a disaster!

A few things happened here yesterday. Firstly we now have the concrete slab down for Gael’s garden shed. Secondly I finished wiring the stereo in the shed and gave it a run. It sounds fantastic! Lastly I assembled the bottom half of the engine lift and hope to do more today.

Ian every time you and Rob post I feel a little more regret creeping into my life that I no longer half my little plot of land and house to fuss over. My back may appreciate it since it was a major factor in selling the house but still. I do miss cutting the law and futzing around in my old workshop even if my back doesn't.

I, on the other hand, enjoy living vicariously through Ian and Rob and their horticultural adventures. At one time, I loved mowing and edging and trimming. Then one day I didn’t. I mean REALLY didn’t. Now, a factor in that change happened after arthritis began in my hips, and I went to “green” mowers, using batteries instead of Dino tea. Because the decks were way narrower than my last fuelly Craftsman, it would take 7-8 more passes without the self propelled part. In a nice stand of Bermuda, that’s a lot of pushing. I now do the backyard, which is 1/3rd raised beds anyway, and weed eat the fence row and in the flower beds. Mowing and edging the front lawn is hired out, as he makes it look nicer than I want to fool with anymore.

After weeks of having my clean shop (aka the spare room) occupied by 17 lbs of former tomcat, I managed to sneak in and put together my Signal Injector Pen



It took longer to get my "toys" out and return the room to "safe" afterwards than it took to actually do the project, but it was nice to do sling a little 63/37 again.

As a bonus, Groo seems quite content to be a "shop cat". I had my fan and fume extractor going along with my little Bluetooth speaker (needed a charge anyway) and Groo was perfectly content to lounge on a nearby piece of furniture. He watched me for a bit, but once he saw me engrossed in my task he dozed off.

I did leave the door open to the rest of the house, but he decided to hang out.

I’m happy to hear my rather boring life is of interest to some of you and I too find Ian’s garden adventures absorbing and wish I was at his level of gardening competence. I am a lucky man though as each time I walk through the house I am awestruck by the beauty of this place and we are so lucky to live where we do.

We waited all day to see the AFL Grand Final in Perth on TV last night. The team we were following almost doubled the score of the other and set the biggest winning margin ever at a GF. However it was well deserved as it’s been 57 years since Melbourne won a GF. Our team Collingwood ended up second last for the season so we were following Melbourne to support our best mate Dave who has waited soooo long for this victory. The QLED TV was magnificent for a spectacle such as this, as this was the yardstick in my mind.

I was never really much interested in sport on TV until the flat panel TVs came out. It was good on the HD LED screen but what I saw last night was to a completely different level. It’s the most money we’ve ever spent on a TV but I have absolutely no regrets.
