She went out to do some shopping & came back with two packs of underwear containing 12 pairs of underpants in each, She said when you go for the 20 straight days of radio therapy you're not going in those washed out underpants you've got in your drawer

I get a Duluth Trading Co. gift card every Christmas from the in-laws which I use to rotate out any underoos that are worse for wear. As a kid I'd have been mortified at the thought, but as a middling aged fellow, I rather look forward to the annual gift card.

No fuss, no muss, and if pressed it's exactly what I'd ask for anyway.

Wives are like mothers. They never want you to leave the house without clean underwear. Just in case you get into a serious accident or whatever.

But when you're lying on a bed in the ER and they're trying to save your life the only notice they pay to your shorts is how to most easily cut them off you.

My solution is to go commando and save them both time and effort.

Well we managed to get one of the two cats into a basket for the vets appointment, The other legged it upstairs as soon as he knew what was happening He was under the bed & neither of us could bend down & reach him, He'll have to go another day .

Now that the last of the tomato plants have been stripped out of the other greenhouse it's time to clean the windows inside with a bleach & soap solution before the green algae sets in.
I have an extendable wash brush that will save me bending

Had an email from the seed potato merchants yesterday of what varieties are available for next year so I ordered mine early & got 10% off.
I'm not going mad again with lots of varieties so I picked four, Sarpo Mira, Maris Piper, Cara & Wilja.

I lost a couple of hours in the garden myself this morning, don’t ask me what I did other than plant butter beans and leeks and water everything. I must have done other things but it was so nice outside today it doesn’t matter and I can’t remember anyway.

Had a visit from neighbour Joe and discussed bringing some cattle back and about time as the grass is coming away like mad. Then had a visit from a timber milling mob who checked out the trees we have down, but they are not big enough to justify bringing the portable mill here but he is going to try and get some from others, enough for me to make a cattle yard. Some people are donating their wood if they don’t have a project for it. Not going to knock back free timber am I? I’ll find room in the shed to air dry it for 12 months if I have to.

Our best friends are coming for lunch today. Dave & Carolyn are pretty depressed ATM as Dave was soon to go on dialysis due to kidney failure but this week the specialists have told him his cancer has come back. He had to have treatment for that before commencing dialysis. His future looks pretty bleak! As friends we hope to give them a chance to talk it out today and we will do anything e can to help them.

My 3 best mates are all going downhill and I hate seeing it, however I’m very grateful for what health I've got right now. Our women friends seem more durable.

The lesson is to enjoy your life and do the things that you love while you can.

Nothing on the cards for me today however I picked up a guitar yesterday for the first time in ages to get some dexterity back, I'd forgotten how soon your fingers get sore without callouses

We had a lovely lunch with our mates and had a chance to talk through the heath things and the 4 hours we were together was full of love and laughter.

I’m sure it did us all some good.

Sorry to hear that Rob. I can empathize. Several of my former workmates and teammates on our old fastpitch softball team have passed away over the past few years and two or three more passed quite awhile ago. Age and illnesses are thinning our herd.

On a better note my best friend and soul brother from Wisconsin is coming out for a visit soon. He'll be here for 3 days in October. John is one of my oldest friends and also my oldest daughters God Father. It's with him and his wife Lori I stay when back in Green Bay on vacation.

We both love sports but the damnable luck is that there is nothing going on locally or in Denver that weekend. The MLB season ends to day before he arrives, the CSU football team is playing away, and the hockey season has yet to begin for either the Avs or the more local minor league team the Eagles. Guess we'll go exploring in the mountains.

I seems to be a false report that's been debunked. Or....they're simply using a possible COVID quarantine to hide something. In just a few weeks he's destined to be elected for a 3rd term so one does wonder if something is afoot to stop that from happening.

It struck me the military might be getting antsy that he was on the verge of declaring himself emperor with a third term. He’s making it all about personality and I don’t think the military would be too keen on that.

We had the solar team in yesterday and my shed is a mess! Got half way through to be told that the configuration where the power board is freestanding some 15’ from the shed is going to reduce power (voltage drop) and I will only be able to run 3 sectors from the battery. The stupid power board is a requirement after the fires and I refuse to muck up the house with 22 panels on it, so the shed is the only option as far as I'm concerned.

There is an alternative in that they’ve offered me a tesla battery (normally $18,000) or more for cost for an extra $4.000 and that will give me full electrical useage in a power outage as is my plan. So the installation has been left uncompleted until I tell them which way to go. Gael and I still have to discuss it and make a decison. Meanwhile they had to trench from the shed to the freestanding board through my carport so I have to tidy that up today and compress the gravel before I can park the ute in there. Sigh~

OTOH neighbour Joe brought us 6 yearling cattle 2 males, 4 females yesterday and it’s as foggy as heck but I can see them happily munching through the mist.

Gael was re-elected president of the art society for the 10th year yesterday and just can’t get anyone to repace her. She might have to vacate and let them sort it out next year as it take a toll on her at her age. The problem is that she will be hard act to follow.

Memphis Light, Gas, and Water - MLGW - is a city owned monopoly, and most everyone has electric AC but gas heat. I hoped to find a gas hookup for the new stove/cooktop, but nooooo, only heat is gas in your house!

I just lit the wood heater as it’s late afternoon and cooling down. Lucky to have a plentiful wood supply here our property. I just have to turn it into firewood. We have a large R/C A/C which heats the house if we don’t want to light the fire and an open fire place in the lounge which we use occasionally for effect.

My “master plan“ is to avoid the inevitable price increases with electricity and to be stand alone when outages occur.

There is no reticulated gas this far out though ironically the main gas line to Sydney passes feet from our rear boundary. LPG is far too expensive for heating.

Electricity is only going to go one way in price & that's upwards here. The government have said they're going to cap energy prices but it will still be too expensive for a lot of people.
20+ electricity providers went belly up here two years ago & the government don't want any more going bust so they're basically bailing them out.
Our gas & electricity are going up again on the 1st October & on the 1st April next year so I'm not sure how this government price cap on energy is going to work out yet.
I've started to charge my EV up before the end of the month so as to have a "full tank" before the price rise

One of the big EV rapid charger companies here (Osprey) have just put their public charger prices up to £1/kWh
I'm glad I don't need to use those public chargers.

We have a similar situation here in that the City of Fort Collins provides electric and water service. So far my electric bill has only been around $40 per month mostly because I run my A/C very little and make due with my ceiling fan which I sit beneath when I work. Due to our lower humidity I can easily tolerate temps of 75 degrees indoors with some fresh air coming in via the screened patio doors.

My concern is the apartment is also heated by an electric furnace so what that means during the winter months I have yet to experience. The place does seem well insulated and I also have a southern exposure so I can take advantage of that early in the day hoping to keep the use of the furnace down to as little as possible. But it is a ground floor unit so there's also that to consider. Just hoping I'm not shocked my my first cold weather bill.

Haven't seen a water bill as of yet but I'm told they're about $25 per month.
