Greg came and brought a new muffler for my od tractor yesterday. $550 and it didn’t fit! Bloody Kubota Grrrr!

We started a work around and eventually got it fitted using a home manufactured sleeve. Greg did that while I came in and recovered from the extremely hot conditions in the shed. I spent a couple of hours in the heat before lunch knocking weeds over and spraying them with a spray pack. I should have left it at that!

Greg intends to buy an acreage at some stage so I gave him the old Kubota seeing as he loves it so much, and will store it here until he needs it.
The new side by side will cover anything I can do with the old tractor.

Seems bloody unfair to me and will impact older people and underprivileged the most.

Yeah it is, A government MP said It's going to be the biggest shake up in transportation this generation has ever seen since the automobile was invented :wow: .

There's a big brouhaha brewing over it, Not just that though! There isn't even an affordable used electric car market yet for the great majority of people to exchange their old ICE vehicles for EV's plus the charging infrastructure isn't there yet let alone the people who live in terraced housing with no off road parking or ability to charge from home. There are hundreds of thousands of these old terraced properties here, The housing stock is what it is here & was never made for car ownership let alone charging ev's, these houses only have a 60A shared loop supply with the house next door.
They're spending £billions on updating the public transport system with capped fares, I have my old farts concessionary travel pass which costs me nothing & I use it quite regular.
They've capped fares to just £2 for adults & £1 for kids to travel anywhere across the region.
Our local bus operators are getting 50 electric double decker buses this Summer to replace the diesel buses.

The burden of cutting carbon emissions and cleaning up the planet also needs to be borne by those corporations who have made billions of dollars in profit soiling it. At what point do we finally realize they're once again making it primarily the problem of the citizen of earth to clean up their mess? We need to stop electing those who protect them and begin electing more of those who see it as their duty to protect us.

I could write an entire book on how corporations have screwed over the middle class of our own country and at one point in time I was involved with helping them do it. That light illuminated for me very slowly at first but now it burns with brightness of a 1000w arc lamp. I see it every single day. Most corporations make very poor citizens and yet we've given them the same power as ordinary citizens. It was a huge mistake.

Yesterday we were slack! Very slack! Working in the heat the day before left me drained and I suppose being retired it’s our right to kick back occasionally.

This morning I have an appointment to get results of my recent stress test to see whats going on with my ticker. It was sypposed to be last Wed. but Dr. was crook. So that will occupy my morning and this arvo I’m gonna grab some secatuers and tackle the veggie garden which is out of control.

Life is good!

Off for another weeks treatment shortly so my missus will have to deal with the boiler people, Being without hot water is a pain in the backside at this time of year, We have an independent shower ( I call it a Minnesota shower :D ) over the bath but the hottest temp that puts out is about 1 degree above absolute freezing :thumb:I pity them if they give her any BS prices for another one :D

I noticed last week that I was covered in crosses down in my nether regions made with a ballpoint pen :wow: They draw them on you in three separate places around those tattoo points they made to align the machine precisely, Unbeknown to me they were all still there as I get in that shower & get out as quick as possible :D & didn't clean them off properly, They must think I'm a scruffy bugger

It might pay you go into a camping store and get one of those solar camping showers. One kettle of hot and the rest cold. Hang it up in your shower. Perfect shower for 2 people. Open it up to wet down, turn it off to lather up and rinse off, thats all you need. Beat the hell out of a cold shower. They are meant to heat up in the sun but a kettle of hot does the job. Before we had a HWS in the first shed thats what we used.

Um Greg have you noticed that there’s a bird in your eye?
When he was a young bird, Bjird liked hanging off my glasses. He doesn’t anymore, but Benedict Cumberbudge likes to swing! I can‘t attach a video, but he’ll grab on to a set of cable knitting needles and flip upside down, then usually does a half twist for the dismount. It’s funny!

Oh you mean “that" kind of swinging?

So it seems my ticker is fine and that I’m going to be hanging around here a bit longer annoying you all!

It seems that my irregular heartbeat (that triggered tests) may have been with me from birth. Theory is now that the low vitamin B12 problem I’ve had before but thought had corrected itself, may have returned. Tests will confirm. If so a simple injection every few weeks will hopefully correct the weakness & tiredness that I’m experiencing. (pernicious anemia)

To celebrate I went to for a long (for me) walk at a high rate of knots through Lakes Entrance for half an hour and came back to pick up a script I was filling in time for from the chemist. It’s too hilly here for me to walk and I’m determined to find somewhere locally where I can walk a few mornings a week. After I fix the energy problem that is.

Good news on the ticker mate :yesway: My missus got in touch with the local council yesterday to inquire if there are any grants available to upgrade your old boiler & low & behold there are.

Turns out our energy company set up an initiative with the government called a ECO (energy company obligation) to help people with the costs of a new boiler. The scheme is means tested and as we're both pensioners on a low fixed pension we meet all the requirements so we're just waiting for the boiler people to get in touch. :dude:

Fingers crossed for you Ian! Good initiative thinking to see if there was something available mate.

I spent time cutting back around veggies as it’s overgrown., giving some smaller plants a chance at seeing some sky! Thinking seriously about your tyre stack for growing spuds. With all the rain they are in short supply in southern Oz these days. Do you use actual soil to top them up or a bag of composted chook poo or something?

I then pressure washed a big S/S BBQ with a hood and wok burner as under the cover rats had made a home inside it. I want to take it to the recycling centre but the 2 ladies are against that as they reckon someone could use it. Roz volunteers at a church opportunity shop and wants me to give it to them. I gave it a good clean but just can’t bear the thought of somebody using it. We have native rats here that will nest anywhere dark and that BBQ hasn’t been used for years.

So I have an optomitrist appt. early folowed by a haircut. A few other things while I’m in there will wipe out most of the morning.

Yeah It was just by chance she got in contact with the council and if we're lucky the energy company will cover most of the costs.

I saw a YT vid a while ago where they grew taters in old tyres using a mixture of compost & grass clipping to grow them in with good results.

There are signs Spring isn't too far away here :applause:
I hadn't noticed some of the Allium bulbs had broken surface recently.

Blimey! mate did you have to turn your Aussie man card in for not using a bbq for years :thumb:

I'm off to you know where shortly & the side effects of this radiotherapy treatment are showing more than ever, I can barely empty my bladder & now constipated, I talked with them yesterday & they said that this would happen & last for two to three weeks after I finish my month sessions......Deep joy. :frown:

I heard that the ASIO was sending Paul Hogan and a platoon of 'roos to do a thorough investigation of a possible foreign sleeper agent who may or may not have had something to do with that little radioactive capsule they lost (and mysteriously recovered).

Good solid looking shoots there mate!

We have had 2 BBQ’s here for years and as you get older you tend not to have bigger gatherings and the WeberQ does all that we need now. I have one at Mallacoota too and they are so economical on gas that one bottle lasts ages. The main reason BBQs are fewer is this colder weather plus losing our protection from late afternoon SE breezes which often make it uncomfortable early evening. All the trees and bushes protecting us went in the fires. We should be getting a few 40C plus temps this month as it’s usually Feb. that is our hottest and certainly many days in the 30’s, but now we are getting mostly low and mid 20’s.

Feels more like "Global Cooling" to me!

Hopefully this treatment will be forgotten long after it does the trick and returns you to good health Ian.

Seeing as you mentioned Hoges, I reckon he was one of the funniest comedians we’ve ever produced in this country! Taking the piss out of Aussies and Strop and Delvene were terriic too. Not sure how it would go down with the current audiences here now but then what they think is funny leaves me cold.

It's a bit like Benny Hill really!

Sluggin' it out today 'til I get me weekday off tomorrow. I'm beginning to grow into the 8-9 hours days now and like having 3 days off each week.

You're right about the Benny Hill comparison but at least the background tune was spot on. Canned Heat.
